In early May listen for the raucous notes of the Great-crested Flycatcher. The most common is a throaty, ascending "wheeep". Like other flycatchers the Great-crested often hunts from a perch, flying out to catch an insect then returning to the same spot. It has a rusty tail and a yellow wash on its belly. Listen
