Hepatica is one of our earliest native spring flowers. You can find the three-lobed leaves on the forest floor at any time of year but look for the many-petaled, pink, blue, white or lavendar flowers in late March or early April. Hepatica is named for the three-lobed, liver-like shape of its leaves.
