One of our earliest spring migrants is the Horned Lark. Look in fields and along-side roads in early February to find it. Most Horned Larks leave Leelanau county in mid-November and migrate to areas from Southern Michigan to Northern Florida. If you get a close look you might even see its "horns" of feathers.
